Girl Scouts Has New Fonts!
Happy Summer Everyone!
I’m so very excited to tell you, Girl Scouts has new fonts!!! Okay, I’ll be honest, it doesn’t take much for me to get excited when it comes to fonts. For years Girl Scouts has had exclusive license on their Omnes font family, while using more well-known free fonts for things like the “Girl Guide to Girl Scouting”. I’ve posted about that here.
In 2016, Girl Scouts desired a font “suite”–a collection of fonts–versatile enough for “age-specific flexibility”. G*S*U*S*A enlisted the services of Positype to create fonts that would do just that. Introducing: Trefoil Sans and Trefoil Slab. These fonts, as you’ll notice, are very “Omnes-like”.
In addition to the trefoil pair, Positype created the following iterations as well:
Shortbread Script {my favorite}:
Thin Mint Script:
Trefoil DIY:
The above types are adorable, cute and adaptable just like Girl Scouts! Here is the Shortbread Script font in action in the new Art in the Outdoors badge requirements:
I wish that I could say it will be easy to get our hands on these fonts sometime soon, but that is not the case, not for several years. You see the licensing of a custom, copyrighted font allows G*S*U*S*A a exclusive license of the font. Eventually knock-offs will be created and by then it’s likely Girl Scouts will “rebrand” again. I’m happy to see they are keeping the brand up-to-date while still maintaining their uniqueness. Meanwhile I’ll keep my ear to the ground in search of similar fonts!

How do you get these fonts?
Details about font availability are in the last paragraph 🙂
That must be the font they use as the text on the website. The logo font is still a modified Avenir Black right?
I wish they would release these. I want!!!
Do you know what the font is that the cookie names are written in?
